Things to Remember for Sheet Folding Mastery
- Space is Key: You need a good, clean area to work on β your bed, a clean floor, or even a kitchen table will do just fine.
- Perfection Isn’t Necessary: We’re not aiming for flawlessness here β that’s for folks with all the time in the world. We’re going for ‘pretty and practical.’
Let’s dive into the four methods I’ll show you. The fun part? Each method has a unique way to fold the pillowcase. So, grab your sheets, and let’s start!
Folding Bedsheets Mastery: Step-by-Step Guide
Fold the Fitted Sheet in Half: With the wrong sides facing each other, tuck the elastic corners neatly inside one another.
Fold in Half Again: Repeat the tucking process. Then, lay it out on your chosen surface, smoothing it into a square or rectangle, depending on your sheet size.
Thirds or Fourths: For the fitted sheet, fold it lengthwise in thirds.
If you’re dealing with a larger set, consider folding it into fourths β top quarter down, bottom quarter up, then fold in half.
The Final Fold: Now, fold it in thirds the other way.
Flat Sheet Time: Fold your flat sheet to match the size of the fitted sheet and stack them.

Pillowcase Folding: Here’s the fun part. You can choose any of the following techniques.
- Method 1: Tuck the sheets inside the pillowcase, folding any excess pillowcase underneath.
- Method 2 (My personal favorite!): Fold the pillowcase in thirds lengthwise and wrap it around the stacked sheets. My kids say it looks like a little gift for their bed!
- Method 3: Simply fold the pillowcase and place it on top of the sheets.
- Method 4: Fold the pillowcase lengthwise to match your folded sheets’ width, then wrap it around for a smooth front β great for display in your linen closet.
