If you've been reading my blog for long you know that I love it when simple, thrifty and beautiful meet. I like things that I can create during nap time or quickly in the evening without sacrificing all my alone time with my hubby. But I don't want it to look like it was cheap and easy to make, ya know?
This wreath took me less than half an hour and cost about 15 bucks. And I seriously love it.
I used a foam wreath form, some floral or "greening" pins and 4 different herbs: rosemary, thyme, parsley and bay leaf. I used dried bay leaf to cut costs and I like the extra colour and texture it added.
Mark your wreath form with a marker so that you know when you've covered one quarter of it. Adhere small bunches of the herbs to the foam with the floral pins. Easy Peasy!
I think it's the perfect way to add a little Christmassy-ness to the Kitchen (Yes, I know Christmassy-ness is not a word...yet.)
And here's a simple quick tip for hanging wreaths on cabinet doors:
Hang a command hook upside down and tie your ribbon to it!
Are you busy decorating for Christmas? Just starting? Already finished? Leave a comment and let me know!
Using the command hook upside down inside the cabinet door is a great idea!
ReplyDeletethis is amazing! will the herbs dry out and then can you use them?
ReplyDeleteGenius!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I am so doing this! I have rosemary and thyme in my front yard, both of which overwinter here in Virginia...consequently, we never run out. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and I am obsessed with it!! Such great tips and ideas!! I was wondering with this wreath, will the herbs dry up quickly and start shedding on the counter?? I bet it fills the kitchen with beautiful scent.
ReplyDeleteI showed my hubby and he said I bet it smells wonderful! I liked it so much, I Pinned it! And, the upside-down commend strip is genius!
ReplyDeleteI will not covet, I will not covet! Wait!! I will copy, I will copy:o)
ReplyDeleteHow do you have time or brain cells left to think of these things?? (I mena from having little kids, not because you are dumb!!). Seriously....I don't even have time to think of such cute things! (NOte my blog, to keep everyone informed of my Peanut's days...apparently, she has been doing NOTHING since Sept!!) Beautiful Christmassy things though...love, love, love, as usual!!
That wreath is super-cute! How clever!!! and I never would have thought about an upside down command hook. I'm markig your blog as a FAV!

Beautiful wreath. I would leave it up all year long. I love those Command hooks and use them everywhere in the house. Great blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - so clever! As they dry, the herbs can be used for cooking! (instead of being kept in a paper bag in the drawer).
