This weekend our church celebrated the birth of a good friend's third child, and I was asked to decorate the church hall. One of the decorations I made was this diaper wreath. Not only is a cute (and super simple) decoration...the lovely mama gets to take it home and use the diapers too!
You will need:
- 1 wire wreath form (mine was 18 inches)
- diapers (I used about 30 of them)
- scissors
- thin ribbon for tying the diapers to the wreath
- any desired ribbons or decorative do-dads to gussy up the finished wreath.
Start by opening a diaper and putting the wreath form inside it. Like this:
Tie the diaper closed with a piece or ribbon.
And keep going....
Don't worry if you can see some of the wreath form. You can squish them close enough together near the end to make sure it's mostly covered.
See, I told ya it was easy!
Here's what the back looks like:
I added a little cardstock medallion I whipped up on my computer with a wired ribbon bow and some curly bits.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love simple crafty projects?
Thanks so much for visiting The Complete Guide to Imperfect Homemaking!
This is adorable! What a great idea. I'm involved in putting on our church baby showers, so I might just use your idea at our next shower!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I may do this for someone I know.....but with pink ribbon for a girl!
ReplyDeleteAlways need new baby shower ideas! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteAw, so cute and easy and I love that my kids could help me make this for someone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great idea. Hope you are surviving the morning sickness...
Wow! What a great idea. I'll have to keep this in mind for my cousin's baby shower in a few months.
ReplyDeleteI got one of these for my baby shower with my first baby and loved it :) I actually kept it as a decoration for the nursery instead of using the diapers. Then I used it as a decoration for my sister-in-law's baby shower and let her take it home afterwords. You can make these with a styrofoam wreath as well!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! It looks so much cuter than just a big box of diapers. I'll have to remember that for my next baby shower.
ReplyDeleteThis is now hanging on my wall until i need the diapers!!!! Thanks again, I love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf only I had someone to throw a baby shower for. Cute idea!

How sweet! I don't have a wreath form, but I'm going to try a quilting hoop.
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable and your instructions/demo pics are great!
ReplyDeleteThat's my 3rd baby's name!! Cute wreath too!
ReplyDeleteI love this! A friend of mine will have her 3rd baby boy next month - I know now that I'm gonna do exactly this for her!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! As a mother who has had to "undo" a similar gift recently I beg you ladies to tie your knots loosely! If the knot is too tight it is impossible even to slip scissors underneath. Frantically untying impossible knots to use useful diapers is not a task a mother wants to tackle with her newborn on the changing table! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Instant decorating, useful materials, and re-usable form!
ReplyDeleteWhat size diaper did you use? I think I will be making one in the next few weeks for a baby shower.
ReplyDeleteHi! I used size 2.
ReplyDeletethis is the classiest diaper wreath i've seen. makes them look so much nicer!
ReplyDeletei've been browsing through your blog the last few days ... your craft tutorials make this totally un-crafty momma think she may even be able to pull a few off!
Thanks for posting this! I was thinking of doing the traditional diaper cake for a friend's shower, but this is much cuter! I am so excited to make it :)
ReplyDeleteI love your diaper wreath! It looks really clean and adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this Kelly. Super cute and sweet and I love practical gifts!

ReplyDeleteI've made three so far and they all look adorable: Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, and Trucks & Cars. I can't believe how easy they are to make, especially easy thanks to your step-by-step directions with pictures. Thanks so much for passing along your creativity. They were a big hit at the showers.
