This week, my kids and I created a happy little wall hanging celebrating our home.
We started with a blank canvas and some letter stickers and we painted over the letter stickers.
And then carefully removed them.
I touched up some of the spots where the paint bled with a white Sharpie poster paint marker.
And then I sat on the floor with the kids and together we brainstormed things that we like about our home, and things we like to do at our home. I had a few ideas of my own on hand to get the brainstorming going again whenever the ideas stopped flowing.
The best part is hearing what your kids love about the life you live in your home. Like "rearranging the furniture." I've always let them ride on the couches as I push them around the living room and never realized that was something that my kids really treasure. Who knew this craft was really a fact finding mission?

Awesome. I love "rearranging the furniture" :)
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love hearing kids point of views - and I think it's important that adults do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea!!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!! So fun! And (maybe most importantly) it sounds easy enough even for me! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea and a really good way to get inside your childrens minds. I love how little minds work, they have an honesty that is so refreshing.
ReplyDeleteWHat a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom of 2 under 17 months I have been inspired by your blog!! I just wanted to write a quick note to say thanks for your refreshing perspective! You are a Proverbs 31 woman, and I have greatly appreciated the small but gentle reminders in all your posts of all the wonderful ways how we can raise children in this world!! And you've given me some much needed inspiration to declutter my home so that I can make some mental room for my kids, husband, and even self sometimes!!! :)
Thanks again!
LOVE THIS! What a great idea :-) Thanks for your blog!
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteI don't read any other blogs. I found this when I was looking for a "spring cleaning" list" last year. I became addicted. I am also, a list person. You are so awesome, I have two kids- 3 and 1 and there are so many times when I just want some peace and quiet, or I want fresh flowers in my bathroom that is totally clean. Anyway, I don't know how you do it. You seem like an amazing, devoted mom.
When I feel uninspired, tired, or excited about something to do, I just go back through your posts and look at your pictures of organization.
I literally just finished a massive clean out of my home and yet I know there is still more to do. Thank you for being my inspiration. Please keep posting- I don't know how you have time for it, but it's awesome.
(I meant the bathroom thing to be sarcastic, I wish it was as pretty as yours)
DeleteSuch an adorable idea. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea. I love it!! One of my fond memories is when my parents would wax the wooden floors. We'd get to put on socks and slide around the living room so the floor would get buffed/polished!! The job was accomplished and we had lots of fun! It's good to know it's the simple, no-cost things which can leave the best memories for our kids.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet idea - and so nice that you got the kiddos involved so they have some say in the home decor, too! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteamazing.....
ReplyDeleteWOW- I love this!!! Almost made me cry reading all the little things that make your home so sweet! Gonna have to do this!!! <3 it!!
ReplyDeleteLove this...this theme has been on my mind! I like the way you made it as a reflection of the child's perspective...hmmm...want to do it!
ReplyDeleteawesome! absolutely awesome!
ReplyDeleteAutumn
This is such a good idea! I can't wait to sit down and work on this with my boys.
ReplyDeleteLove this! What a wonderful way to teach your children (and to have a reminder) to be grateful for all the little things in life.
ReplyDeleteI love this, thank you so much for sharing! I need to see the blessings through the hard days and what a great reminder of the wealth found in motherhood!
ReplyDeleteI love this Kelly!! I think I'll be sitting down with my two girls on spring break next week and working on one of these. Thanks for the inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteI did one along these lines with my kindergarten class, called "What is Love?" I got some hilarious answers & some very sweet ones, too: "It's when someone jumps into your heart & you jump right back into theirs" and "It's when your mom helps you put on your sneakers."
