Yummy Chocolate Strawberry Smoothies

Served with a handful of nuts, this 5 ingredient smoothie makes a simple and delicious breakfast or snack.  And it's kid friendly, except that it is so yummy that your kids will probably start telling important people like Sunday School teachers and Grandma that you give them milkshakes for breakfast!

Chocolate Strawberry Smoothies
(makes 2 servings)

In a Blender, combine:
  • 1 over-ripe banana (the browner and sweeter, the better)
  • 1 heaping cup of frozen strawberries
  •  1/2 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 TBSP of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup of milk
Blend until smooth and enjoy. If you try it, let me know what you think!

  5. I was going to say the same thing as Jill--I keep forgetting that the Imperfect Homemaker seems to live somewhere near our neck of the woods...er...well, we don't live in the woods, just in a Treehouse, but you get the idea. That photo could be my groceries too. :-)

  6. My kids love this, we have a similar smoothie for breakfast, but we add in a handful of spinach or kale - they never even can tell the difference! (Chocolate masks the taste and colour of the greens - even for Mama!)

  7. Just made it and it's delicious. I tweeked it a bit by adding more chocolate after I dished some out to the kids.

  8. I'm wondering if the banana comes through in the taste or texture of this smoothy. My DD hates (to the point of gagging) anything banana-ish and can usually tell from a mile away. Are there any alternatives I could use? Thanks for the sweet recipe!

  11. Sounds great! I'll try it this afternoon! My kids love a similar one but using a tablespoon or two of peanut butter instead of the chocolate. It's nice a creamy and very delicious but I'm excited to try a new one!
