A Baby Shower Diaper Wreath

This weekend our church celebrated the birth of a good friend's third child, and I was asked to decorate the church hall.  One of the decorations I made was this diaper wreath. Not only is a cute (and super simple) decoration...the lovely mama gets to take it home and use the diapers too!

You will need:

  • 1 wire wreath form (mine was 18 inches)
  • diapers (I used about 30 of them)
  • scissors
  • thin ribbon for tying the diapers to the wreath
  • any desired ribbons or decorative do-dads to gussy up the finished wreath.
This is a super simple project.  The kind of thing you can complete while dinner is simmering on the stove.

Start by opening a diaper and putting the wreath form inside it.  Like this:

Tie the diaper closed with a piece or ribbon.

And keep going....

Don't worry if you can see some of the wreath form.  You can squish them close enough together near the end to make sure it's mostly covered.

See, I told ya it was easy!

Here's what the back looks like:

I added a little cardstock medallion I whipped up on my computer with a wired ribbon bow and some curly bits.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love simple crafty projects?

  6. I got one of these for my baby shower with my first baby and loved it :) I actually kept it as a decoration for the nursery instead of using the diapers. Then I used it as a decoration for my sister-in-law's baby shower and let her take it home afterwords. You can make these with a styrofoam wreath as well!

  7. What a great idea! It looks so much cuter than just a big box of diapers. I'll have to remember that for my next baby shower.

  14. This is so cute! As a mother who has had to "undo" a similar gift recently I beg you ladies to tie your knots loosely! If the knot is too tight it is impossible even to slip scissors underneath. Frantically untying impossible knots to use useful diapers is not a task a mother wants to tackle with her newborn on the changing table! LOL!

  22. I've made three so far and they all look adorable: Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, and Trucks & Cars. I can't believe how easy they are to make, especially easy thanks to your step-by-step directions with pictures. Thanks so much for passing along your creativity. They were a big hit at the showers.
